"The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born -- that there is a genetic factor to leadership. This myth asserts that people simply either have certain charismatic qualities or not. That's nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born."

Programs

The R. Scott Hitt Foundation believes that the obstacles facing full LGBT equality are enormous.  Confronting and eliminating these obstacles will require a new generation of activists to launch, lead, and work within organizations that will ultimately prevail in the battle for full equality.  Our goal is to provide an opportunity for the next generation of community leaders to receive a solid foundation in development and leadership skills in order to achieve future success.

The program offerings of the the R. Scott Hitt Foundation during our second year are focused solely on undergraduate and graduate internships.

As the vision, scope and ability of the Foundation increases, the structure of the Foundation allows the Board of Directors to act quickly and decisively regarding future opportunities that the Board determines to be consistent with the Foundation's mission and our founder's goals for the development of future leaders.

While no formal alternate submission process has been implemented by the Foundation, the leadership of the Foundation requests that any unsolicited submissions or requests for program development assistance be in strict accordance with the goals and mission of the R. Scott Hitt Foundation and submitted to the attention of the Managing Director at our mailing address.
